About Melanie

Having left banking in pursuit of my passion for natural health, I undertook four years of training at the University of East London, graduating in 2011 with a 1st class Honours in Herbal Medicine (BSc Hons).

By training to the highest standards, my aim has been to help people rediscover what Herbal Medicine has to offer them, in a safe manner, and as part of their overall healthcare.

In this country and many others, it has taken only a few generations for much of the traditional knowledge about medicinal plants to be lost. At the same time, we are increasingly on the lookout for a more natural approach to our health. However, without the traditional knowledge-base, we’ve also lost some of the cautiousness and common sense of our grandparents, who would have known that natural does not equal safe. While of course there are many medicinal herbs which we take in daily as food, with no adverse consequences, there are some which, when taken alongside conventional drugs may potentiate or reduce their efficacy, putting our health at risk. By training to the highest standards, my aim has been to help people rediscover what Herbal Medicine has to offer them, in a safe manner, and as part of their overall healthcare.

Having been based in London for the past three years, I recently moved my practice to the West Country in order to be closer to areas where the plants in my dispensary can be wild-harvested or sourced from local organic growers. I currently practice at The Natural Health Practice, 2a Spicer Road, St. Leonard’s, Exeter EX1 1SX. Please contact me if you would like to book an appointment.
